At first, he was a little more than embarrassed about doing it, shuffling almost awkwardly until Stiles huffed and took the hint, manhandling Derek until his ass was high in the air, all ready for the taking. Everyone expects Stiles to be the impatient one in bed, wriggling around or teasing (and that he often is) but as Derek grows more confident being with someone again, someone he trusts and loves to be playful around for the first time in years, he’s the one practically wagging his metaphorical tail every time Stiles tells him to turn over, preening when Stiles tells him what a lovely sight he makes. And we won’t even get started on the full moon.
• Derek who sometimes doesn’t want sex, but just needs to be filled up. Derek who sometimes strips and preps himself before coming downstairs to clamber on to Stiles’ lap to watch a movie or nap, happy and sated with Stiles inside him. Some days they talk about their days like this, Stiles fully clothed, stroking up and down Derek’s arms as he tells him about his thesis or shift at the library, Derek telling him about the book he’s writing or the history papers he’s marking. 
• Bottom!Derek who just likes that feeling of closeness when Stiles is inside him, like Stiles is touching and anchoring every part of him. And even though Stiles can’t do much about his past, the pain, everything that often feels too much, he can soothe them, quieten those feelings. He can press Derek down and kiss him and, just for a little bit, Derek can just focus on Stiles. On them. Nothing else. On everything he has come to think of as home again.
