yes OMG totally yes.
they met on tumblr and then eventually followed each other on all other social media like snapchat Instagram and Twitter. but because the first met on tumblr they just by habit always ended up using it as their main form of communication. and at first they’re both a little shy to keep the conversations going because what if they’re actually annoying this other person ???? but they slowly realize how much they wanna be each other’s friend and they spend an unbelievable amount of time talking to each other because they have so much in common and how unfair is it that the one friend they make is someone who lives on the other side of the country because it’s crossed stiles’ mind more than once that if they had met in real life and become friends, they’d totally be dating right now and stiles and Derek are both usually pretty shy but with the computer screen to protect their feelings they’ve even been flirting with each other a little bit and so stiles is in California and Derek is in New York and they never really discussed their pasts much until one day Derek mentions that he’s moving back home now that he’s done with college and stiles is like uh isn’t New York home???? and Derek’s like no well I moved here 10 years ago and took a couple years off school but now I’m done with my masters and I love New York but I think it’s time to go back home to California and stiles is freaking out because now that they’re at least gonna be in the same state there’s a chance they can meet up somewhere
and so Derek mentions that he’ll be a bit disconnected from the world while he packs up and moves and gets settled back into an apartment that he found and had a realtor check for him so he’d have a place right when he moved back in so anyways they’re snapchatting each other and Derek mentions how he’s at the grocery store, snapping stiles pictures of random groceries and stiles thinks it’s weird bc he just got to the grocery store too
and he’s walking around getting the food he needs and he sends Derek a snapchat and immediately hears the notification sound coming from the isle next to his and so he races around to the other side and what do you know, there is Derek hale standing in his grocery store, staring at his phone and is in the middle of sending stiles a snapchat when stiles blurts out Derek’s name
and Derek whips his head around and they both just stare at each other for a few seconds before running towards each other for the biggest hug and before either of them know what’s happening, they’re kissing in the middle of the cereal isle and once their little real life meeting has calmed down a bit, they both just laugh because what are the chances that the two boys who met online would end up living 2 miles away from each other in the end
