I feel like, Stiles magic only needs his belief to work /and that’s it/. Which is kinda insane when you think about it. Deaton probably was setting Stiles up for failure with the paltry amount of mountain ash and then got scared of Stiles actually being able to do it. Cementing his belief that Stiles should never be taught. But Stiles is Stiles and later that night he’s freaking out at the logistics of closing that ash barrier bc that was impossible. Deaton said belief right? So… He experiment

thisdiscontentedwinter:

For a while on his own. Problem is, despite the supernatural shit show his life has turned into… Stiles still has two feet firmly planted in reality. Clings to that after the Nogitsune. So all he really can do for a while (if he doesn’t think about it too closely) is make pizza pockets and Cheetos appear out of nowhere. He slowly starts trying to unstick himself from the notion of ‘reality’. Getting out of BH helps. A lot. And it gets easier. Magic is also how he got himself into that FBI raid

And found Derek in the first place. Eventually, way down the line, Stiles becomes a pretty badass dude with magic. He’s got the spn world in raptures bc he can do some crazy shit like its not big. but his specialty will always remain pulling snack foods out of thin air.

I love this! Mostly I love the idea that his magic is literally limitless, but his favourite thing ever is making pizza pockets manifest out of thin air! How very Stiles!

And the supernatural world keeps such a close eye on him, sure that he’s going to do something MASSIVE one day, and fuck everything up, but every time their druid spies report back it’s like “Today he made his Jeep’s glove compartment fill up with Twizzlers.”

Okay so re: Stiles growing a new body from the nogitsune and being made from magic affecting his Spark (hopefully I’m not too late to the party): What if he made a black mountain ash line after, with his new body, and what if /something/ happened (idk a whole ash dome-barrier or it glows a different colour or SOMETHING WEIRD) that makes it clear his Spark wasn’t what it used to be, that it was more powerful or an abomination of what it used to be, a sort of Spark even Deaton hasn’t seen before?

Dude, not too late to the party, this is a party I want to keep going indefinitely, because I love this idea so much. He starts taking emissary lessons from Deaton, slowly building up his skill to make ash barriers without having to manually form the circle, and when he finally does it–I don’t know, maybe it gives off that black smoke that followed around the onis. And when a werewolf tries to break it, it glows the bright greenish yellow of a firefly, and not even Scott can push through it.

And maybe he doesn’t even have that spark anymore, it died with his original body, but there’s the magic that created this second body that he can manipulate like a spark. He believes it’s a spark for so long that it becomes what he needs it to so it takes a while to realize, but once he figures out that what he’s got isn’t limited by druid rules and teachings…Ho boy.

Watch the fuck out.

(Also there are many jokes about his butt glowing.)

Follow-up on the glowing butt: he doesn’t notice anything different at first. After all, he doesn’t stare at his ass in the mirror like ever. If he was gonna mirror-stare a feature, he wouldn’t be starting with his ass. But one night, at a sleepover at Scott’s, one of their first ones in a while, and he’s wearing his ratty old sweatpants that have been washed so many times that they’re almost see-through, when Scott suddenly goes: “What the hell, dude.”

He turns around and Scott is staring at him. Well, his ass. Stiles cranes his head to look behind him and- “What the hell, dude.”

His butt. is. glowing.

He thoughtless yanks his pants down and there’s a glowing swirl on his ass. On each ass cheek.

What. the. hell.

After the inevitable panic and the poking and the slapping of cellphones out of Scotty’s hand because “We are not telling Derek about my glowing ass.”, dawn has broken, and with the rise of the sun came the fade of the glow. Scotty gets uncomfortably close to Stiles’ bare ass, eyes wide and fingers rising as if to touch which, yeah Scott is his brother in every way but blood, but no. Stiles slaps the hand away and Scotty looks up at him. Grins.

“Dude. Firefly butt. Wicked.”

Stiles groans.

Hmmm if Stiles magic just works on belief… Maybe Deaton used Stiles to,,, help along that whole true alpha bullshit. I mean, at first Stiles was all us vs the scary werewolves I don’t understand yet. But once he started making in ways with Derek and understanding werewolfishness he pretty quickly turned sides and was pro alpha Derek Hale when they needed him. But I mean Deaton claiming ‘true alphas’ are real af probs convinced Stiles. Which feeds into the belief thing. Which keepsScottan alpha

Oooh… I am intrigued by the idea of what happens if Stile loses faith in Deaton or Scott then…

Hello, yes, I would like to order this in a full length fic, please!

Both links remind me of magical!Stiles. The first one is prompts about magical tattoos and the second is art depicting a techno mage (which is amazing). But they both sorta fit a few headcannons of mine. Whenever I see magical, I always see him swathed in an array of magical tattoos. One of which is his familiar. He can call it out whenever he needs. He also has tattoos that allow him to connect to any sort of tech, sorta like that tattoo in the techo witch art, which gives him the ability to manipulate tech to his whims. It how he knows exactly what’s wrong with Roscoe all the time, so he can apply specific spells to keep his baby running.

These are wonderful!

I’m also working on an original fic at the moment where the mage in that has his familiar tattooed on his body, and they kind of move around when they get bored of being in the one spot. I can see Stiles’s familiar doing that–just popping out from under his shirt collar to see what’s gong on…

For Cat C, who answered my call for Sterek prompts!

Prompt: Stiles so convinced he’ll screw up a spell that he’s flailing and unable to focus to DO the thing, until Derek kisses him to distract him

———

You can do this, he told himself, hands trembling as he traced off the first rune, light welling under his bloodied fingertips. The rune flared and then fizzled, misformed, and he tried again, willing his body to cooperate. You have to do this.

Without meaning to, his gaze flicked up to Derek, flat on his back and bleeding all over the darkened cement. His breath caught, his heart hammering in his chest as his vision went a little fuzzy with the rush of adrenaline and fear.

“Stiles,” Derek said, and it lacked his usual ire.

“I’m- I’m here,” Stiles replied quickly, scooting closer on his knees. “I’m trying, but I just…” He trailed off, not sure how to explain that he had done this a thousand times with Deaton, but never in the field. Never when it mattered.

Shoving those thoughts aside, Stiles focused again on the runes on his skin, heart still too fast and his mind screaming his fears at him. Too much blood. Too many wounds. Not enough time. You’ve never combined runes before. You can’t.

He didn’t realize he had stopped, shaking too badly to do anything, until Derek laid a hand over his. When he looked up, he caught Derek’s pale gaze and everything seemed to slow down a little. Derek smiled, and tugged Stiles forward as he struggled halfway to a sitting position. Stiles closed his eyes as Derek’s lips pressed against his cheek, and then Derek flopped back to the ground with a pained grunt.

A kiss for luck. How many times had Derek done that while he was learning? This was new, but it was the same- another learning experience. Another challenge.

Stiles opened his eyes. He had stopped shaking.

“You’ve got this,” Derek mumbled. “C’mon.”

Stiles let out his breath and drew in another before slowly tracing over the first rune again. It lit green as he poured his will into it, wanting to heal, wanting to mend. It stayed when he drew it off his skin, shimmering and bright while he traced the second rune, and the third. He twined them together almost blindly.

“Derek,” he said loudly, and Derek’s eyes cracked open again, burning red as his body tried to heal through the effects of the infectious bites. At least he was still alive. At least Stiles still stood a chance at saving him.

Without further hesitation, Stiles pressed the rune set into the worst of the wounds, the light twisting and fragmenting before it began to seep outward, blurring the edges until it was a blanket of light instead. The wound consumed the light, the energy, the power of the rune and Stiles watched as it began to heal, finally. After a moment, the others began to follow suit, slowly but surely knitting back together.

Stiles slumped as soon as the last of the light had faded. Derek had still lost a lot of blood, and he would be weak for a while, but the worst of it was over. They were going to be okay.

Teen Wolf AU: Stiles is magic

It took him a while to realize it, but once he found his magic, everything changed. Yeah, the black eyes were super creepy, they freaked out even the wolves, and everybody who saw them assumed Stiles was evil. But he wasn’t, he was a good mage. So, so, so good. He could do spells and control fire. He could make potions and use runes. He could make bullets kill every supernatural thing they hit. He could make his friends transform into full wolves. Everything around him was magic these days. Ingredients, paints, objects, so many wonderful, rare object. And Stiles felt every single magical particle of them.

Sterek AU: After the death of Claudia magic becomes a taboo in the Stilinski house hold. Everytime Stiles wants to show his dad his magic, to help his dad with his magic John lashes out. Not knowing what to do with the gift that he got from his mother, Stiles represses his magic – doing nearly unrepairable damage to himself.

Years later Derek returns to Beacon Hills to find that the Alpha that killed his sister is far from the most dangerous thing in town.

Sterek AU: Stiles has borrowed some books on magic from Deaton to see if he can help the pack solve the latest supernatural problem plaguing Beacon Hills. He finds a spell that claims to make people younger and Stiles decides to try it out. The spell doesn’t appear to have any effect, at least not until Derek comes by to check on Stiles’ progress.
