what is okay:
• to be uncomfortable with a ship
• to hate a ship
• to be disgusted by a ship
• to have reasonings behind it
• to explain your reasonings behind it

what is not okay:
• to tell shippers to kill themselves
• to tell shippers they’re disgusting
• to intentionally harass shippers
• to be a dick to someone because of something that makes them happy

pesmenos:

I think we as a fandom need to normalize asking questions about gay ships. We need to make them take us as seriously as we take the ship itself. We need to let them know that this isn’t just something weird or kinky but as solid and loving as het ships are. Normalize asking questions about m/m and f/f and nb/nb and all the other variations of ships so they can take us seriously because I dunno about you but I’m tired of being treated like I’m not good enough for producers and actors.

JUST BURY ME IN PAIRINGS WHERE ONE PERSON’S BEEN THROUGH SO MUCH HELL AND HARDSHIPS, BUT LOOKS AT THEIR LOVER LIKE THEY’RE THE SUN, HOLDS THEIR LOVER CLOSE LIKE THEY’RE THE WARMEST THING IN THE COLDEST SNOW STORM, AND KISSES THEIR LOVER PASSIONATELY LIKE THEY’RE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WORLD.

What I hate about heteronormativity is that you will get the most mind-blowing, realistic, palpable chemistry between two characters of the same gender in a show and the writer/cast will bend over backwards to pretend it’s in the fans heads or make out it’s some amusing and impossible joke, yet you’ll get the dullest, most rubbish, forced, stilted ‘romance’ shoved in your face and be expected to just go with it because hey, it’s a man and a lady who are white and moderately attractive, of course it’s true love. Of bloody course.

things that are NEVER said when people think a het pairing will become canon:

“why do you have to sexualize everything?”

“you just want to see them fuck”

“you’re disrespecting the actors”

“you’re delusional”

“no one wants to see that”

“they should leave it purely ambiguous and subtextual”

so, yeah, if you say them about a queer pairing i’m about 9000% certain you’re being homophobic no matter what excuses you make

Pretty sure that you will never be told your OTP is a ‘bizarre, weird, and twisted thing’ if it’s a het pairing
