trembling-star:

there are two types of summer; white and dark.

white summers are those full of lawn and linen, the sea and soft sunshine,
cherries and children’s smiles, in which you feel disconnected and light,
almost floating, dreamy and distant in a haze of white dandelion fluff. you don’t ever want to land.

dark summers are honeyed & sulky, full of
pomegranates, thunderstorms, magnolias and un-kept promises. cinematic and
shadowy, you exist in a trance of melancholy, and feel passionately,
though feign detachment. pandora opens the box, and lightning fills the sky.

the blazing bombardier.

Idk, this is just a summery fluffball of a Sterek getting-together drabble because I’m tired of winter. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Derek fundamentally doesn’t understand people who like roller coasters.

He knows such people exist because he’s been standing in line with them for the Blazing Bombardier for half an hour now, but even when he’s looking right at them, it’s hard to believe. Seriously, why. The list of things to do on a Saturday afternoon that don’t involve screaming and trying not to hurl is literally infinite. He could be lounging around in his pjs in his dorm right now and rereading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, just for example. Or working out, or going for a drive to the beach, or watching a movie with Boyd and Erica. (Boyd and Erica are officially his favorite people right now because, unlike his sisters, they understand the basic concept that friends don’t make their friends who lose bets ride the most terrifying invention since clown costumes.)

The line moves forward, and oh god, now Derek can actually see the loading station. The seats are wicked-looking hanging harnesses painted to look like flames. He’s going to be sick before he even sits down in the thing.

“There’s a college nearby,” Derek says. “If you wanted to study something. Or – or you could take classes online. But only if you want to.”

“You know, that’s not a bad idea.”

“I’m glad you think so,” Derek says. He sighs. “I just – I just want you to have a chance at a normal life. You deserve that.”

“You do too,” Stiles tells him, because he thinks Derek needs to hear it. Derek needs to know how good he is and how much love he deserves after all that he’s been through.

Derek’s arm tightens around him and they sit like that together, until the sun has disappeared from the sky. The night is black and they look at the constellations dotting the sky. The moon is still a large ball, slowly getting smaller, and Stiles can’t help but smile.

Maybe everything can be okay.

Stiles looks down at his map. He’s been travelling for a few days, hitchhiking when he has to, and it’s a lot safer than the shit he’s used to. It’s the summer and he wants to get away. He has for a while now.

He wants to find Derek.

There has been the occasional rumour about him, a whisper passing through, but it’s enough for Stiles to know where to look. It’s been a few years since he last saw Derek, and Stiles has tried to forget what he looks like.

He never quite manages – Stiles remembers his glare, his scowl, his smirk. Derek was troubled but he tried and sometimes the memory of his smile comes through. Stiles misses it.

The trees are tall in this area. They hide everything, and the shade helps with the heat. Sweat pools down Stiles’ temple and he marches forward. He swears this is the place, he swears he’s so close to the place Derek has made his home.

He keeps wandering around in circles, not seeing anything. His spark flares inside him every so often, and he knows he’s in the right place. He can feel it, feel the hint of magic in the air.

“You should have called,” comes a voice, and Stiles yelps. He trips over backwards, the weight of his backpack pulling him down.

“Holy shit!” he yells, scrambling backwards. Stiles’ breaths are coming quick, but then he catches the sight of a familiar head of hair. “Derek.”

Fic rating: T
Length: 4k
Summary:
The boy looks like a dream, the way the sunlight streams through the open door, lighting up his silhouette as he strides into the cabin.
If Stiles didn’t already know he was bisexual he definitely would know now.
He closes his mouth. “Okay, dad, I changed my mind, I’ll stay for the summer,” he says hastily, and hangs up the phone.

geeky-sova:

I doodled this thing last night instead of doing whatever I was supposed to be doing because you guys had filled my evening with so much love that all I wanted to do was to just DRAW MORE STEREK… ♥

I didn’t want to post it but Mako and Dani told me to so you can blame them for the damage 😉

For @sterekwriters Summer Bingo prompt: Pack Pool Party

Derek looks around the backyard and goes
over his mental checklist. Laughter? Check. Talking? Check. People in the pool
trying to get the people next to pool wet? Check. Food? Check. Drinks? Che— No
check.

Derek grabs the almost empty pitcher of
lemonade from the table and goes to the kitchen to refill it.

He’s counting ice cubes when he hears
Stiles approach.

‘You having fun?’ Stiles asks him.

‘Of course.’

‘Because you seem a little tense.’

Stiles’ hand comes to rest against the
back of Derek’s neck, and Derek realizes Stiles is right. Taking a deep breath
in, he lets the tension flow out of him. Stiles might not be able to take other
people’s pain, but whenever Derek is tense, all he needs is a simple touch from
his boyfriend and the tension is gone in an instant.

‘I just… I want this party to be
perfect,’ Derek says, turning around.

Stiles steps forward, forcing Derek to
take a step back and his back hits the edge of the counter. Stiles places his
hands on either of side of Derek, trapping him in place. Derek feels himself
relax even further.

‘Well, it almost is. What would make it
completely perfect is if you were actually there and not constantly running around
and worrying if everyone else is having a good time.’

‘I know. I just—‘

‘—want it to be perfect,’ Stiles
finishes. He brushes a hand through Derek’s hair, then narrows his eyes at him.
Derek can almost hear the little wheels turning in Stiles’ head as he tries to
puzzle things out. ‘What’s going on?’

‘My mom used to throw these,’ Derek says
after a moment. The expression on Stiles’ face turns soft and understanding.
‘They were amazing,’ Derek continues. ‘The whole pack would be there, our
entire family. It was our biggest event of the summer. We could eat as much ice
cream and candy as we wanted. We could stay up late. We could play around and
have fun and not worry about staying in control, because everyone who was there
was in the know, if not a werewolf themselves.’

‘That does sound kind of perfect,’
Stiles says.

‘They were and I wanted to have that
here too. With us.’

‘Derek, we do have that here. Look.’

Derek allows Stiles to turn him toward
the big windows at the back of the house. He can see most of the backyard
through them. Veronica, Allison and Scott’s three year-old daughter, is wolfed
out and chasing Liam around the backyard. Malia and Kira are laughing so hard
they’re curled up on the ground, clutching their stomachs. Erica, Boyd and
Hayden seem to be having a contest of who can eat the most pie in as little
time as possible. Isaac is lifting himself out of the pool, shaking his head,
making water droplets fly everywhere, and getting yelled at by Allison and
Lydia, who are floating around on inflatable chairs, because he’s getting pool
water in their drinks. Jackson and Scott are waiting for more food by the grill
that Stiles’ dad is manning, while Melissa and Mason seem to be in deep
conversation while lounging in their chairs. Jordan will be coming by later
after his shift. Everyone seems to be having a good time, and Derek knows that
when he goes out there he’ll be smelling sun, barbecue and happiness.

Derek leans back against Stiles, who
wraps his arms around Derek’s waist and hooks his chin over Derek’s shoulder.

‘So, are you going to join the party
now? It is, after all, our housewarming party,’ Stiles murmurs.

‘I don’t think I have a choice,’ Derek
says. ‘I promised Scott I’d throw him in the pool when he least suspects it.’

‘Signal me so I can record it,’ Stiles
chuckles, pressing his grin to  Derek’s
neck.

‘Of course. Else, what would be the
point?’
